Frontier Internet Availability

Frontier provides DSL internet across 25 states. It has just one DSL plan, so your options are limited. But there are no equipment charges or data caps.

Frontier’s fiber internet is available in over a dozen states, including California, Connecticut, Florida, Indiana, South Carolina, and Texas. Frontier expects to reach 10 million locations by the end of 2025.

Frontier internet speeds

Frontier launched its 5 Gig Fiber Internet service in January 2023. It’s one of the fastest plans in the nation, competing with AT&T, Optimum, and Ziply Fiber. Frontier introduced its 2 Gig Fiber Internet service a year prior on February 22, 2022. If all that speed seems like overkill, the Fiber 500 Internet plan is a good megabit-per-dollar value if you can get it.

Why choose Frontier for internet service?

Choose Frontier if you want some of the fastest download speeds you can get. Its fiber internet is still rather limited, but it’s a more reliable—and sometimes faster—connection than cable internet and DSL. With no equipment fees, no data caps, and no contracts, Frontier is your ideal connection if it’s available in your area.

 Pros

  • Unlimited data
  • No cost Wi-Fi router

 Cons

  • Limited fiber availability
  • Slow DSL speeds

How Frontier compares to the competition

When we compare Gigabit plans, Frontier and CenturyLink are nearly identical in price. Both are cheaper than AT&T and Verizon, but you’ll probably never see all four fiber internet services in your area. Frontier primarily competes with AT&T and CenturyLink in the DSL internet space and AT&T and Verizon in the fiber internet space.

Of the four, Frontier has the lowest overall customer satisfaction rating based on user feedback. According to our annual survey, its highest ranking is in price satisfaction, sending it a few places behind CenturyLink and far behind AT&T and Verizon. Its weakest links in our survey are in customer service and speed satisfaction.
