Over 98% of Washington, DC, residents have access to broadband internet service that’s at least 25 Mbps. If you compare internet providers by coverage area, Xfinity has the most comprehensive coverage in the DC metro area. Xfinity offers service to all of DC except a few small sections of Foggy Bottom, Capitol Hill, and Shepherd Park.
RCN covers most of DC but is not available to some neighborhoods in Northeast DC. Verizon's fiber network reaches most of Washington, DC. Verizon’s excluded areas include some waterfront neighborhoods like Sheridan-Kalorama and Woodland-Normanstone Terrace as well as sections of Foggy Bottom, Park View, Shepherd Park, and Foxhall Village.
Atlantic Broadband is also widely available, excluding small pockets along the Southwest Waterfront and a few spots in the Northwest.
There are also hundreds of free public Wi-Fi hotspots throughout the city, making it easy to stay connected whether you’re catching some sunshine at the park or avoiding tourists at the local pub. Some providers, such as Xfinity, offer customers access to secure Wi-Fi hotspots throughout the city.
