Richmond Residential Internet Coverage

Throughout Richmond_s dozens of neighborhoods, there are many established internet networks with different pricing options and speed options.

Most of Richmond_s neighborhoods and business areas have access to fiber internet through Verizon Fios, which covers all of Richmond_s neighborhoods except part of Fulton in the eastern part of the city.

This is identical to the Verizon DSL network. In the north, this network serves neighborhoods like Ginter Park, Pine Camp, Bryan Park, and Rosedale. In the southern part of the city, the network reaches Cottrell Farms and Walmsley. Huguenot and Stony Point are covered at the western city limits, and the network runs through central neighborhoods like Maymont, Carillon, and Forest Hill. The network reaches the eastern city limits in neighborhoods like Fulton, Chimborazo, and Church Hill.

Xfinity has an expansive cable network in Richmond, reaching and exceeding the city limits in all directions.

Through Megapath, those in the northern and western parts of Richmond have access to internet service. Some of southern Richmond falls outside the service area, including Fulton and Shockoe Bottom.

Awful customer service, and exorbitant price hikes. Only used for checking emails and streaming one TV— couldn’t watch HD due to slow connection speeds. Took me over 6 weeks and 4 requests to finally get service cancelled, and I’m still receiving bills with my account being draw. Ridiculous company, avoid if at all possible.

I've had Xfinity for about 5 years. They used to have the cheapest prices, but now the prices do NOT reflect the quality of service. I can have one bar and using my data is still faster than using my wifi. I'd recommend going to Fios or anywhere else. Not worth it!

Well, it's finally time to select an internet provider, since the current FIOs agreement is about to expire. A few years ago we had xFinity, so I'll discuss the two. PROs: FIOS did tend to be more reliable: the interest/cable/phone went down less often. xFinity kept their rates stable for more than half a decade, so I could budget easier. Also, their interface was better. CONs: xFinity found nifty ways to increase the rate over time (fine print), and soaked me on an "other device connection support" charge. BOOO! xFinity started doing a rate creep at the end of my agreement with them, so that's I left. The choice I'm going to make this time: get rid of what I don't need, and really watch out for the fine print. I think I'll just use my neighbor's wi-fi signal, and make them a nice dinner every few weeks.

I have had the worst experience since I had to switch to Verizon internet (I moved and my new building only allows Verizon basic, not Fios). I am a student and the only service I want is internet. The smallest package is home phone and internet and I reluctantly signed up. Not only am I paying for a service I don't want or use, but my bill is so high! I wouldn't complain as much if it were quality high speed internet, but videos have to constantly stop to buffer for a few minutes and sometimes my phone won't even recognize the wifi signal in my one bedroom apartment. I'd love to give a good review but it's been one problem after another.
