Olympia Residential Internet Coverage

The city of Olympia, which covers a wide coastal area, is home to several internet service providers that offer consistent and reliable coverage to residential and business customers.

Through CenturyLink, every Olympia neighborhood has access to DSL. The service area stretches to western areas like The Woods and Walnut Park, stretching east to Woodfield Estates and Castlewood.

The service area of Xfinity mirrors this, reaching the northern areas of West Bay Drive and Burbank, as well as the southern communities of Holiday Hills and Nottingham.

Megapath offers service to all of Olympia, covering central areas like Downtown, South Capitol, and Fain Park, as well as outlying western, eastern, northern, and southern neighborhoods.

Smaller neighborhoods like Wildbood and Carlyon North are covered by all three major internet service providers in Olympia. Eastern communities like The Birches and Briarwood have access to cable, DSL, and satellite. CenturyLink, Xfinity, and Megapath also bring service to remote northeastern communities like Springwood, Newport, and Woodard Glen.

I have had Xfinity for 12 years. There service is a lie they throttle speeds below half at various times of the day. There network is unstable ping spikes that can affect multiple devices. Unless your close to the IP servers meaning live in Seattle. You have only 2-3 connected devices then you might not notice any problems. I have tried to resolve this problem spent over 100 hours of my time on hold waiting for services. Talking with supervisors getting as little of a discount for my time and effort for services still under perform. The alternative is changing providers that cannot even come close to providing services for our household. The fact is that Xfinity has a Monopoly over the Northwest they can set there prices as high as they want. The Country is moving into a technological time where Network and device are becoming more and more of an essential part of modern times. If you look at the EU, their governments have provided. Propper infostructure by ensuring it's UpToDate by providing the latest networking technology. The US has a long way too to catch up. What does that mean well to me it means if Xfinity lacks in providing services? Current or new company could take be the leaders in providing a much-needed better service. This would just mean a company would essentially need the capital to pull this off. That is not the only thing they need they would also need State and Federal approval. This my friends will not happen, so we are stuck. Paying this Monopoly of company for bad service that is way overpriced.

I have no words to describe accurately the deep loathing I have for this company. I have had so many negative experiences with company representatives and hours spent on hold with no satisfaction of a resolution at the end of it all. When will humanity be rid of this blight??

We pay exorbitant amounts for a connection with decent speed because Xfinity has a full monopoly in our area on what should be classified as a utility. We never get the speeds we pay for, and there are many days each week (more often than not) in which our connection will not stay up for longer than a few minutes, causing constant interruption in everything from online meetings to submitting important documents. Xfinity has tried to blame us/our equipment/our wiring for the issue. They are legally responsible for everything from our junction box to their data center, and even after connecting FOUR separate hardware configurations DIRECTLY to the pole outside our home, the issue persists. We cannot get anyone on the phone. There is no one on the online chat. Avoid this company at all costs. Take a slower satellite connection over Xfinity every day.

I have Century Link and they are really great if you never need anything fixed. The internet is good, the prices are cheap, and for the most part there aren't any problems. That being said, their customer service is total garbage. I moved less than 5 miles away and it has been two freaking weeks since then and I still don't have the service I am paying for. They never are able to set appointments when I am off work and dont bother to call if they miss an appointment. I had 4 people tell me not to worry about being home and that the guy would turn it on from his van FOR FREE. Nope. Charged and the guy didnt even do anything because I wasnt home. They can't set up an appointment that's not some ridiculous time like 9am-1pm on a Wednesday 2 weeks from now. It's extremely frustrating and I have gone through this twice before due to lack of options. Both times I had to strong arm them so that they'd just turn it on over the phone. The tech instal is usually bs for $$$$$. Extremely frustrating to deal with. Internet works fine when it's on and it's cheap. Buyer BEWARE of the customer service. They make you want to RIP your hair out.

I have been with xfinity/Comcast for a long time now. Internet speed is good. However!!!!! The company always try to jack up your costs once or twice a year. Go to office and complain loudly but with decorum. They will reduce costs. Ignore price increases at your peril. This company will also try to change your contract. The latest is to limit your download volume. Expect charges if you break your limit. a new income stream we never had to pay for or worry about. xfinity/Comcast are not customer/service driven. but always about profit per customer and how to generate more. Don't let them beat you down. Fight back. Unfortunately the options here are of no consequence we are stuck with a monopoly.

I've had Comcast as my internet provider for years, and the ONLY reason I haven't left is because there aren't really other options in my area. Every couple of months Comcast will randomly jack up my bill for no reason, so I have to spend ours trying to get a hold of someone to fix it, threaten to leave, and then they might lower it back down. Even when you get real people they sound automated, and try so hard to help that they never answer your questions or really listen to what you're saying. I'm still looking for a way out. You've been warned.
