Verizon is a mobile carrier and internet provider that offers high-speed fiber internet and excellently priced 5G wireless service. Verizon’s Fios home internet service is by far the best deal, but all of the provider’s plans come with unlimited data and some come with sweet perks like Disney+ trials and rewards cards.

- No data caps or annual contracts
- Nationwide fixed wireless service
Cons
- Limited fiber availability

Verizon speeds
Verizon’s fastest plan, Fios 2 Gig, tops out at 2,300 Mbps download speeds and has a symmetrical upload speed—which is perfect for heavy-duty online activities and huge households.
But even a plan of just 300 Mbps upload and download speeds is great for mid-sized homes, giving you enough bandwidth to support gaming, streaming, and Zoom on multiple devices.
Verizon data caps
None of Verizon’s home internet plans have data caps. You can use all the data you want all month long without worrying about overage charges tacked to your bill.
Our favorite plan:
Verizon’s Fios 300 Mbps is the best plan you can get—it not only is a bargain, but also delivers excellent speeds perfect for a small- to mid-sized household. You get symmetrical upload speeds for smooth Zoom calls and livestreams, and you don’t have data caps.
Really though, Verizon is an excellent provider no matter what plan you get. Verizon Fios plans are all fast and incredibly reliable. The 5G Home Internet plans have slower speeds, but they come at a great price and give you extra sign-up perks too.
Verizon deals and promotions
Get NFL Sunday Ticket or $400 off select Samsung appliances at Home Depot when you sign up for Fios 1 Gig, Fios 2 Gig, 5G Home Plus, or LTE Home Plus. Deal ends Sept. 11 for 5G Home Plus, and LTE Home Plus. Deals ends Oct. 9 for Fios.
Verizon internet fees
Fee | Cost |
---|---|
Equipment fee | No equipment fee |
Installation fee | $99.00 for Fios (waived if you order online), no charge for 5G Home Internet and LTE Home Internet |
Late fee | 1.5% of the balance that wasn't paid by the due date |
Since Verizon’s high-speed internet plans don’t require annual contracts, you don’t need to worry about early termination fees if you decide to cancel your plan. You also don’t have to pay overage charges because Verizon doesn’t impose data caps on its internet plans.
Verizon Fios plans technically come with a $99 installation fee, but that fee is waived when you order online. Verizon 5G Home Internet and LTE Home Internet plans don’t have any extra fees for installation or equipment—those extras are folded into the total bill.
Verizon internet installation, equipment, and contracts
Verizon’s high-speed internet plans don’t require fees for installation or equipment, but in some cases you do have to pay extra for services like Whole Home Wi-Fi and cloud storage. You don’t have to worry about contracts and there are ways to waive the other fees.
Verizon installation and equipment
With Verizon Fios plans, a router is included in the pricing, but Whole Home Wi-Fi (a system that includes a mesh router for expanded Wi-Fi range) is only included with the gigabit plans. Those plans also come with 2 TB of cloud storage while the 300 and 500 Mbps plans offer optional cloud service for an additional $20 a month.
Verizon 5G Home Internet requires a modem and router, but a gateway (which combines the two) comes included as part of your package at no extra charge. (In this case, you can’t use your own modem because the 5G router is specifically built to pick up 5G wireless signals.)
Verizon internet contracts
No need to worry about annual contracts with Verizon. All of its internet plans work month to month, so you can cancel any time without paying early termination fees.

*According to our annual customer satisfaction survey
Verizon has a big advantage over its main competitors: price per Mbps. A Verizon Fios fiber plan gets you faster speeds at a similar or lower prices than cable providers Xfinity and Cox. You also get really fast upload speeds that simply aren’t available on a cable internet plan.
The prices for Verizon’s high-speed internet plans are slightly higher than those of fellow fiber provider Optimum. However, Verizon has wider availability and much stronger ratings in our annual customer satisfaction survey.

Is Verizon right for you?
Verizon high-speed internet is right for you if you want fast download speeds, high-speed uploads, and quality customer service. Verizon Fios is truly one of the best fiber-optic options you can get—and it’s not too expensive either.
And even if you’re on a budget, it’s well worth trying out Verizon’s 5G Home Internet plan. While it’s not as fast as the fiber options, it’s still pretty fast for a small household, and the fixed-rate price means you don’t have to deal with hidden charges for things like installation or equipment.
