Chesapeake Residential Internet Coverage

Covering a significant area south of Norfolk, the city of Chesapeake is home to several expansive internet service providers that meet the needs of businesses and residents.

Through Verizon Fios, almost all of Chesapeake Bay enjoys high-speed fiber internet access. Coverage starts at the southern edge of Norfolk, running into the northern Chesapeake neighborhood of Deep Creek North and running south to Pleasant Grove. Through Verizon, customers have access to a well-established DSL network. This network covers the entirety of Chesapeake, running beyond the city limits in all directions. Coverage reaches Dismal Swamp in the west, Western Branch in the north, Butts Station in the east, and Pleasant Grove in the south.

Charter has a slightly smaller service area that currently reaches part of western Chesapeake. The service area stretches into Western Branch and part of Dismal Swamp, stretching beyond the western city limits into neighboring communities.

Via Mediacom, those living in central and eastern Chesapeake have access to internet service. The company serves the neighborhoods of Greenbrier, Great Bridge, Butts Station, and Pleasant Grove. With a coverage map reaching all of Chesapeake, Megapath is a popular choice in this region.

I just moved to Suffolk VA from Chesapeake VA where I had Verizon (930D/888U) for 16 years @$69.99/M no contract no hassell, and all I had to do was pay the bill. Enter Spectrum, Easy call setup for their 500D/500U, they have fiber, I am all in. Price after some 2 year contract discount is $69.99/M, half the speed of Version and double the cost but ok. First test comes back at 500D/20U technician says no worries they can increase that for you if you need more, I was like ok sign off. I call in the lady on the line could have cared less about my needs, wants, or desires. Got the Canned response "I can connect you to customer retention"? I was like I have been a customer for 5 days and I am dissatisfied. They don't care because they seem to have a monopoly setup and there are not competitors in the fiber market. So I advise if you work from home think twice before you move to Suffolk Va because of spectrum's Twice as high fees, quarter of the speeds, and horrible customer service!!!

This service is excellent. We are very pleased over all. There haven't been any issues, not even on the rainy days. We would recommend "FiOS" to anyone.
