absolutely ridiculous how much of a scam you are. I tried to simply activate my gigabit internet service at a new address (which never actually reaches the speeds i'm paying for and that are advertised) and this is what happened.
First, I am on the line with an hour while a poorly trained sales rep asks the most unhelpful questions possible to actually activating my device-- then she ignored what I wanted to do and trapped me into signing up for a predatory TV streaming plan which I said I did not want at all and told me that I had a 7 day free trial (which wasn't true either).
Finally she told me that it was done so we hung up. It still didn't work, so I called back and got a different person. After another hour, they came to the conclusion that my router was outdated. So, I had to go to a spectrum location the next morning in person to get a new router. I did this, and got the new router.
Yet somehow, about an hour later, I received another email saying that I was signed up for a $29.99/mo mobile phone plan.
So I called and had to wait on hold for 40 minutes, and be transferred between 3 different departments to finally make sure that I only am paying for the internet service, and that it is ready to be activated. At different stages of this process I was quoted 4 different prices and unconsensually signed up for 2 different services instead of having my issue addressed. Your internal systems are utterly dysfunctional and unorganized, and your sales tactics are completely disrespectful and predatory.
I manage the account for my parents and customer service is atrocious. It took hours to manage their account today between chatting with an agent, getting on the phone with an agent, and finally getting online to do it myself. Awful. Awful. Awful. And not worth the cost.
The least reliable Internet Service Provider I have ever dealt with. Never had these problems with Optimum, but at my current location - Spectrum is the only game in town. If you have a choice - do NOT go with Spectrum. All they need is to add an eye patch and a parrot to their logo.
Had an install set for later in the afternoon. Got a call that morning and the said they could be there in the morning instead of afternoon. That was a plus for me. Guy wore booties and installed everything seamlessly. Never had any service disruptions that couldn't be fixed with a simple reset. Even those are few and far between. Speed is good, I don't see much room for complaining for the tier I'm on.
Much better than the other providers in NYC, I'd say.
